CHERYL ANDERSON — I find inspiration for paintings in everything I see, but my style of oil painting and what I choose to paint is inspired by the realism and beauty of the Old Masters. What attracts me most in a painting is the movement of light and the color harmony, and I often use a chiaroscuro (light and dark) type of lighting so that I can control both of these elements. I enjoy painting still life because of the timeless aspect of the subject matter and because it gives me ultimate control over the composition of my painting. Faces also inspire me, and so I love painting portraits. A portrait is much more than a likeness. It is a personal and meaningful representation that families will always treasure, and it is an honor to help create this with the sitter.
The materials and methods I use in creating a painting are as important as the image itself. Lead-primed linen, birch and mahogany panels, artist quality pigments, medium and varnish will assure that your painting will stand the test of time. My frames are all professionally made and chosen to enhance and complete each painting.
