Roger Leonard

ROGER LEONARD — Award winning artist Roger Leonard was born in Richmondville, New York. He now lives and paints on Dog Island, Florida. As Roger explains, the Island places him in a self-imposed no more excuses situation. It is rural, it is isolated, and has less than 20 permanent residents.

The artist has fallen in love with the area and he finds inspiration everywhere as he paints illuminated oils of the local and regional swamps, dunes, and critters, people, beaches and boats. Art for Roger is strictly his need to do it. Roger Leonard's Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree is from the prestige's Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida.

From 1974 through 1997, he owned an operated Enterprise Studios in the Sarasota, Bradenton area of the Florida. His career in illustration, art advertising and design soon became filled with painting portraits and murals for his established clientele.

After 20 plus years in commercial artwork, Roger began his life as a fine art artist. The past thirteen years of dedication to his unique style of representational progressive realism has awarded him Roger Leonard a place in the permanent collection of the (Pending) Gulf Coast Maritime Museum, Panacea, Florida. His paintings now hang in nearly 200 homes nationally with a growing list of impressive corporate collectors.
