The Fine Art Adocate Newsletter by Ed Chasen Fine Art
Greetings Gallery Friends
June 2008
Welcome friends to our June newsletter, The Fine Art Advocate.
The Hot days of summer have arrived and we have some exciting artists to share with you and be sure to check out our Fall lineup of exciting shows here in the gallery.
Kurt Larisch
Ed Chasen Fine Art is pleased to share with you one of our top best selling artists in our gallery. Please click on the photos to view the outstanding collection by this very important artist of our time.
Few artists bring the international scene and the experiences of the holocaust to their work in the manner of Kurt Larisch. Viennese by birth, global by life experiences, Kurt Larisch learned traditional painting techniques from his father, who painted miniatures, and his grandfather, a sculptor. He was among the first individiuals in Austria to experiment with and produce animated films.
Kurt Larisch, a holocaust survivor, lived in India after WWII where he continued to experiment with his stubbomly original themes, primarily his critical view of conformity and dehumanization of the masses, by employing tiny human figures juxtaposed against large geometric elements. One can readily recognize the composite influences of Vassarely, Escher, Mondrian and Magritte, but Kurt Larisch flaunts his definitive concepts in bold designs and with the daring use of color contrasts and subtle shadings.
Of Kurt Larisch's paintings, Alphonso deNeuvillate wrote, "(he) is a master of the geometric style in its most elevated form. Kurt Larisch is a true professional, intellectually motivated and a stupendous artist!"
Ed Chasen Fine Art located in Georgetown houses the largest collection of original paintings by Kurt Larisch in the world for you to add to your fine art collection.

Deborah Bigeleisen
We are also pleased to be featuring the luminous collection of roses and flowers by Internationally known artist Deborah Bigeleisen.
Deborah Bigeleisen doesn't seem to differentiate between human and non-human. She recognizes that flowers are the outgrowth of the earth and each one has character and possesses a lush voluptuousness. Most of her paintings concentrate on a single bloom, large in size, so stunning that they command the view of the audience. The artist, through her drawing and the sophistication of her palette, captures all the fragility and beauty of her subjects.
The painterly appearance of her works belies the fact that their buttery-looking surfaces are actually created by transparent washes and layers of opaque paint. Focusing on beauty and aesthetics, she uses the glazing techniques developed by Dutch Luminist masters to achieve a depth, luminosity and aerial perspective.

Andrew Atroshenko
While Andrew Atroshenko had extensive formal traning at the St. Petersburg Acadmeny of Art in Russia, it was in the United States that he was able to fully develop his style. His artwork focuses on the female figure, light, motion, and emotion.

Andrew's figures twist and turn like dancers. Even while playing instruments, they seem to dance, as if providing their own music. This is further emphasized by Andrew's use of fiery red and yellows. In addition to his dancers, Andrew has recently produced pieces depicting jazz musicians.

This subject reflects his ability to portray emotion and passion with color and brushstroke. The theme of music is one that clearly inspires Andrew Atroshenko.
