FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 4/16/07
IT’S REIGNING CATS & DOGS!
It is almost Spring and soon it will be REIGNING CATS & DOGS! Notice that’s REIGNING not RAINING? That is because Ed Chasen Fine Art in Georgetown is celebrating a solo show of pet artist Jody Wright's wonderful collection of original companion animal canvases “where dog’s & cats RULE!”.
Opening Night, Saturday, May 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., is a fundraiser with 20% of all proceeds being donated to the Washington, DC K-9 Police Dog Fund.
This will be a colorful presentation because Jody Wright looks inside each animal to paint the pet's personality rather than pay attention to Mother Natures interpretation of fur. An energetic dog may be portrayed in rich purples and a more passive pooch in delicate pastels. Yet, according to the artist, “one hardly notices that color shift because it’s the EYES that draw you into their beautiful souls!”
Jody is a full time artist who makes her living from painting what she loves most in life. “It’s a true privilege to be able to paint these beautiful animals who have always been a part of my life. They have always offered such unconditional love and this is my small way of giving back to them.” Many of the dogs & cats she paints come from rescue shelters and her current “staff” consists of two rescued dogs – a 2 year old chocolate lab named Ryan and an “old guy” named Zeb (who followed her husband home one subzero winter night just before Christmas). With each painting the artist completes, she makes sure that a portion of the profits is donated back to help others whether it be for animal shelters or for the “working dogs” who protect us and make our world a better place.
Ed Chasen, president of Ed Chasen Fine Art located on 2906 M. Street, N.W., Washington D.C., says, "When one looks at a dog or cat Jody Wright has painted you FEEL the love and passion. Each painting has a story; an emotional connection. These are not just "dog paintings" but a beautiful story that unfolds on canvas expressing the emotion of unconditional love, the joy of being in the "here and now", the intensity of loyalty and the tenderness of friendship."
Please come meet the artist and join in the fight to give man’s best friend the support that they so deserve. This evening Jody Wright will be donating 10% of her proceeds and Ed Chasen will be donating 10% of his proceeds of all sales.
May 1-31 will be “Help Our K-9 Friends” month at Ed Chasen Fine Art with 10% of all proceeds of Jody Wright’s paintings being donated to the Washington, DC k-9 Police Dog Fund. View Jody Wright's wonderful artwork.
