EDWARD SKALLBERG — Edward Skallberg began drawing and painting at the early age of nine in Freeport Long Island. In love with nature and color, my views of the world and life are the heart and soul of each brushstroke. He is influenced by the 19th century masters, Sargent, Moran, Winterhalter. The ability to paint all subject matter, landscape, seascape, still life and portraits. Skallberg’s works are characterized by the deep background color, in the old masters style of chiaroscuro lending a certain vibrancy and energy to his subjects. Using spontaneous brushwork, brilliant color and glazing to give depth, luminosity and harmony.
Ed studied at the School of Visual Arts under internationally acclaimed artist Hogarth, and the Art Students League in New York City, and also studied with the late Jack Jackson, a well-known portrait painter in Ocala, Florida. Edward Skallberg’s works have been exhibited in many shows at Greenport, West Hampton on Long Island and the Soundview Gallery In port Jefferson, N.Y. His paintings were also exhibited at the Europa Gallery in Mt. Dora and the Glenhaven Gallery in Leesberg, Fl. He has also been awarded first prize in several shows.
