Pamela Sukhum & Infinite Vision Art Publishing Announce
“Beautiful Project”
Pamela Sukhum and Infinite Vision Art Publishing are pleased to announce the launch of the “Beautiful Project”, through which Pamela will work with children who have been physically and emotionally impacted by wars around the world to create healing images of transformation, transcendence, and peace. Coupled with the direct provision of medical supplies to those working with the treatment and support of war-impacted children, the Beautiful Project will serve to illuminate a truly universal vision of humanity and possibility.
The Beautiful Project has its roots in a Tibetan journey undertaken by the artist last year, during the course of which she encountered a boy who profoundly changed her perspective. The boy had been badly disfigured, giving his scarred face and hands the appearance of having been melted by fire. “At first”, Pamela recounts, “I had the urge to walk up to him and hand him money, as several other travelers were doing with the other more precocious children around. But, as I approached him, I realized that he didn’t want my money at all. What he really wanted was simply to be seen and touched and not turned away from. I took his hands in mine and looked into his eyes. In that moment, my entire heart opened to a new conception of the term ‘beautiful’. To work with children affected by war, and to hold up their vision of beauty for the whole world to see, I believe, is to transform it for the better.”
In September, Infinite Vision Art Publishing, through its Infinite Vision Foundation, will undertake the first phase of the project in Africa – with an initial focus on Congo, Sudan, and Sierra Leone. During this phase, Pamela will work with children who have been physically and emotionally affected by the conflicts in these areas, through painting, to not only heal from their wounds, but also to elucidate their future dreams and goals for themselves, and for our world. At the same time, Infinite Vision Art Publishing CEO Jeff Bauer will coordinate the provision of medical supplies to facilities directly involved with the treatment of children in these areas. “The Beautiful Project combines the practical necessities of treatment with the global implications of transformational thinking. In this way, it transcends the particular politics of any given conflict, and reveals to us a different human path.”
Phase one of the Beautiful Project will culminate in the creation of an interactive online showing of works created by Pamela and the children, as well as a book featuring images, stories, and other information. All proceeds will be used for the continued provision of painting and medical supplies to these areas.
