"The Allure" by Michael and Inessa Garmash 36 x 24
Michael and Inessa Garmash are known for their seascapes and depictions of quiet moments of reflection. This painting shows a figure caught at the moment just before she dips her toes into the cool water, a refreshing break from the strong sun beating down onto the sand. The wind rushes around her. She is in the moment, thinking of nothing but the sound of the seagulls and the waves of the water. Michael and Inessa Garmash use color to accentuate the mood, echoing the blue in the water with the blue in the figure's flowing skirt. The orange of the ruffles emphasize the orange of the rocks. She is one with environment; she is a part of the landscape.

During a recent visit to Washington, we came across your gallery by chance and were very impressed by your selection of fine art works, as well as your hospitality. The hand-blown glass creations by local artist Brendan Kager caught our attention, especially the green orchid bowl which we ultimately purchased. It arrived safe and sound in Canada (thanks to your museum-quality packing and shipping) and now occupies a position of honour in our home.
We will certainly be back the next time we are in D.C.!

"Nature is the source of inspiration for my art. In each of my paintings, abstract forms emerge from a less structured, landscape-like atmosphere to celebrate the optical pleasures of color and light. In painting as in reality, the appearance of space is two dimensional and the experience is multidimensional. Painting is my link to the larger world...a world with no boundaries." says Rita Shapiro.

Ed Chasen lost his Mother February 1993 to Pancreatic Cancer when she was only 50 years old and will participant in the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation walkathon on Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Sarasota, Florida to help raise money and make a difference.
